Gospel Missionary Baptist Church March 27, 2004 Wednesday Before Easter Sunday on WLLV Talk at Night
March 27, 2004 – A Night to Remember On the Wednesday before Easter, Gospel Missionary Baptist Church came together for a powerful and unforgettable night on 101.9 FM WLLV Gospel Radio. “Talk at Night,” hosted by Pastor Bishop V. Lyons, a faithful senior pastor and voice in our community for over 30 years, marked a very special moment in history as the legendary radio show recently came to an end. The atmosphere was filled with praise, worship, and celebration as some of the most anointed pastors, preachers, and singers gathered in the house. Voices lifted high as Wanda McIntyre, Alvena Smith, Miss Crenshaw, Pastor Nikki Cooper, Archbishop Juanita Henderson, and our beloved Momma Shirley, the oldest member of our church family, blessed the night with their presence and spirit. We especially honor Momma Shirley, who recently went home to be with the Lord four months ago. Her legacy, faithfulness, and love for the church will never be forgotten. She represented strength, wisdom, and dedication to God’s house. Following the Easter weekend, we continued in a spirit of celebration for the community and the church family. Bishop V. Lyons delivered a powerful Word during the first segment of the two-part service, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and the strength of unity in the body of Christ. It was more than a service — it was a celebration of legacy, faith, community, and the lasting impact of gospel radio that has touched lives for decades. #TalkAtNight #WLLV #GospelRadio #ChurchFamily #LegacyOfFaith #InLovingMemory

Slaughter Elementary vs Blake Elementary at Moore High School in the little Gym 2-21-26.
Slaughter Elementary vs. Blake Elementary | February 21, 2026 What a BIG game in the small gym at Moore High School! 🔥 The elementary kids absolutely threw down in this intense rivalry matchup. Slaughter Elementary came into this one with a new dominant big man at center, along with some key returning players from last year’s squad. They were ready to make a statement. Blake Elementary answered back with a brand-new point guard running a powerful, fast-paced offense. From start to finish, it was an up-and-down battle with momentum swinging all game long. Both teams competed hard, the coaches coached their hearts out, and the crowd stayed on their feet. This was more than just a game — it was pride, rivalry, and pure effort on display. Great game by both teams! #YouthBasketball #ElementaryBasketball #GameDay #RivalryGame #MooreHighSchool #BasketballHighlights

Soulful Sounds of Derbytown Gospel 101.9 WLLV FM, host by Marjorie Marshall, 2/2/25.
Sounds of Derby Town Fair – 2025 Hosted by Marjorie Marshall In this special episode of Sounds of Derby Town Fair 2025, host Marjorie Marshall shines a spotlight on the rich musical legacy of Kentucky — especially the powerful sounds rooted in Louisville. She highlights the legendary Saint Stephen Gospel Choir and the Legacy Choir Music Fest happening at 4 PM at Saint Stephen, celebrating generations of gospel excellence. The episode features and discusses inspiring songs including: • “Giants Do Fall” • “Be Proud to Have Gray in Your Hair” by Dave Evans (Bowling Green, Kentucky) • “I’m a Poor Little Orphan in This World” by Julia Perry • A powerful performance by Shirley Verrett • The Everly Brothers classic “Love Is Strange” These selections represent the deep church traditions, jazz influences, and cultural heritage flowing straight from Kentucky — especially Louisville. Marjorie also takes us back to the late 80s and early 90s, spotlighting Louisville’s own underground hip-hop group Underground Mafia and their hit song “Do the Gangster Walk.” She shares how the group stood firm in their identity when a record label tried to market them as being from New York for a bigger deal. They refused — choosing instead to stay true to Louisville and Kentucky music culture. A powerful story of integrity and hometown pride. The show also included a call from Louisville jazz musician Robert Bush Williams, representing the ongoing legacy of local artistry. From gospel to jazz to hip-hop, this episode celebrates Kentucky’s musical roots and the artists who stayed true to where they came from. #SoundsOfDerbyTownFair #LouisvilleMusic #KentuckyMusic #SaintStephen #GospelLegacy #UndergroundMafia #DoTheGangsterWalk #MarjorieMarshall #DerbyCityCulture #KentuckyArtists

King Solomon Baptist Church 8:30 am service, Pastor Shaland Todd Preaher Feb 15, 2026.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the 8:30 AM service, Pastor Shaland Todd brought a powerful Word from the Book of Daniel, reminding us to keep our faith and trust that God is with us everywhere we go. Preaching from Daniel 3:16–18, she reflected on the story of the three Hebrew brothers — Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego — who refused to bow down and worship the golden image. Even when threatened with the fiery furnace, they stood firm and declared: “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it… But even if He does not, we want you to know… we will not serve your gods.” – Daniel 3:17–18 Pastor Todd reminded us that just like those three brothers, we must stand strong in our belief. God will not forsake you. He keeps His Word. He may not come when you want Him, but He is always right on time. Being Valentine’s Day weekend, she also spoke about love — reminding us that God’s love is still alive in the earth. His love protects us, walks with us, and shows up exactly when we need Him most. Senior Pastor Rodger Todd was also present, standing in support of his wife as she delivered a timely and encouraging message to the congregation. This Word encouraged us to: • Keep your faith. • Trust God in every season. • Believe that even in the fire, God is with you. • Remember that He will never leave you nor forsake you. What a blessed service and powerful reminder that we serve an on-time God. 🙌

“Muhammad Ali’s Homecoming — Louisville Motorcade June 10, 2016” 34th Garland Louisville, Ky.
On June 3, 2016, the world lost a legend — Muhammad Ali — but Louisville, Kentucky lost one of its own. Though he passed away in Phoenix, Arizona, he was brought home to be laid to rest in the city that raised him. I live just four streets over from Ali’s childhood home in Louisville’s West End. When his funeral motorcade came through the neighborhood in June 2016, it passed just three blocks from my house. I was there filming as The Champ made his final ride through the same streets where he once ran, trained, and dreamed. This moment is personal for my family. My grandmother grew up playing with Muhammad Ali when they were young. My uncle also grew up as friends with him right here in this neighborhood. That’s how close his roots are to this community. Ali wasn’t just a world champion boxer — he was a symbol of pride, strength, faith, and courage for Louisville, especially the West End. His funeral procession traveled through the city before he was laid to rest at Cave Hill Cemetery, and thousands lined the streets to honor him. To be from the same place as Muhammad Ali is an honor. Louisville will always remember him. Kentucky will always honor him. And the West End will always claim The Champ. “The Greatest” may be gone, but his legacy lives forever in the city he called home. 👊🥊
