Mr. Wonderful Band – “Where You Been”
Some songs are just music. Some songs find you at the right—or wrong—time in your life.
“Where You Been” tells the story of a man who thought he had the game figured out. He was a player, chasing women and living his life his way—until the woman who really mattered decided she’d had enough. Now she’s gone, and he’s left dealing with the one thing he never expected: realizing what he had after he lost it.
This one hits a little different for me personally. While working on the music and putting the video together, certain parts connected with things I’ve experienced in my own life—past relationships, recent situations, mistakes, memories, and those moments that make you look at things differently. I’m putting some of that emotion into the video without having to explain everything. The people who know, know.
Musically, “Where You Been” has its own lane. It still carries that Mr. Wonderful Band Louisville funk/soul sound, but compared with the other songs we’ve brought back, this one has a deeper relationship story underneath the groove.
This is another piece of Louisville music history being brought back to life and preserved for a new generation.
